The Simulation Program is part of the Interprofessional Practice, Education & Innovation Program (IPEI-Program), housed within the Rutgers-Camden School of Nursing in Suite 401, a 9,200 square foot multi-purpose space located on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Nursing and Science Building. The 3rd floor has two foundations skills labs with six hospital beds in each room and two health assessment labs with six exam tables in each room. The 4th floor has four outpatient exam rooms, two high-fidelity hospital/acute care rooms, one simulated community home care environment, and two debriefing/conference rooms that may be used for debriefing, skills labs or orientation. Up to seven undergraduate and graduate simulations may be run simultaneously.
The IPEI-Program strives to provide students with the same technologies that they will use in the hospital setting including automated medication dispensing machines, smart intravenous pumps, and an electronic medical health record system. The simulation program has the capacity to offer high-fidelity, mannequin‐based, or standardized patient-based simulation experiences or low-fidelity, mannequin‐based simulation experiences. The technology‐enhanced debriefing/conference rooms allow for live-streaming of simulation experiences in real time, providing students with the opportunity to participate in peer feedback during debriefing. The conference rooms, skills labs and health assessment labs are equipped with state-of-the-art instructional technology, "smart classrooms", with the capacity for projection from a laptop, DVD, or video.
