What is accreditation?

Accreditation means that a program or institution has gone through a rigorous review and evaluation process by experts in the field. Accreditation assures that the quality of teaching, student achievement, curricula, academic support, and other criteria meet certain standards of excellence and quality.

Why is it so important?

Accreditation is a process that gives public notification that Rutgers University and Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden meets the set of quality standards set forth by an accrediting agency. Typically, accrediting agencies require an institution to conduct an extensive self-study report. The self-study demonstrates a commitment to assess what the university and school are currently doing, and continually seek ways to enhance and improve academic offerings.

Rutgers University is accredited by The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), located at 1007 North Orange Street, 4th Floor, MB #166, Wilmington, DE 19801. MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
