Katherine Soss Prihoda
Biography
Dr. Katherine Soss Prihoda is a Clinical Associate Professor of Nursing at Rutgers University–Camden and a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She has over 35 years of clinical experience and has practiced continuously in underserved New Jersey communities, including Camden, Trenton, and Bayonne, since 1989.
Dr. Prihoda’s clinical, teaching, and scholarly work focuses on pediatric health promotion, disease prevention, and addressing healthcare disparities through community-engaged practice. She has led and participated in multiple Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) practice change projects, several of which have resulted in publications in peer-reviewed professional journals. Her community initiatives include large-scale school and athletic physical examination programs, in Camden through collaboration with graduate and undergraduate nursing students. Teaches and develops graduate and undergraduate curricula in pediatric health assessment, health promotion, and advanced clinical decision-making.
Dr. Prihoda’s contributions have been recognized with the Rutgers Chancellor’s Award for Academic Civic Engagement, the Mercer County CYO “Woman of the Year” award, and recognition from the New Jersey State Nurses Association for community service to the City of Camden. She served as a Rutgers University Senator for several years.
