School Nurse Certificate and MSN Program 

Become a Certified School Nurse in New Jersey

The Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden School Nurse Specialty Program prepares registered nurses to fill the important role of a school nurse in K-12 educational institutions across New Jersey. Our graduate program offers a school nurse certificate alone or as a pathway toward the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialty in school nursing. A second MSN track is offered for post-baccalaureate certified school nurses.

The foundation of our School Nurse Specialty Program builds on the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) Framework for School Nursing Practice. Graduates of our program understand population health principles and trauma-informed care as an integral part of their school nurse role and responsibilities. Students have the option of a graduate-level certificate program alone, or as a seamless pathway toward an MSN with a school nurse specialty. We also offer an MSN for students who already have a post-baccalaureate school nurse certificate.
