Biography
Penny Smith is a simulation specialist at Rutgers School of Nursing Camden. Penny began working in her current position after retiring from her job at a local community hospital for 28 years. During that time her knowledge grew diverse as she worked in many critical care areas. She brings over a decade of intensive care nursing experience and later specialized in cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation before retiring from her position in perioperative/postoperative services. Penny also spent over 5 years as a nurse educator and mentor to new nurses at the hospital. She has a natural ability to teach and is well respected by her peers.
Penny started at Rutgers School of Nursing in January of 2016. She started in her current position in June 2017. At Rutgers School of Nursing Camden, Penny works in the learning lab as a simulation specialist and is responsible for running simulation experiences for the students. She has been involved in providing special programs for the public as well. She also is available to the students on an individual basis to enhance their learning experiences.
She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing as well as the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and has been active in planning and participating in their local conferences. She received her BSN from Thomas Jefferson University and her MSN from Wilmington University. She currently holds a Critical Care Nurse Certification.
