Rebecca H. Bryan

Rebecca Bryan is the Director of Professional Nursing Development at Rutgers University School of Nursing-Camden. Her passion is to raise interprofessional awareness about trauma-informed approaches to care, particularly about the impact of childhood adversity on adult health and well-being. In 2012 she left her primary care practice of 16 years to start the UrbanPromise Wellness Center in Camden, NJ, with evidence-based initiatives grounded in the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) research. Dr. Bryan earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Rutgers University-Camden, where her doctoral project was to integrate ACEs knowledge into nursing curriculum. She is certified in trauma-informed care through Lakeside Global Institute (LGI) and is a trainer for LGI, as well as for Health Federation of Philadelphia.

Dr. Bryan has published two articles to date about ACEs: one about addressing ACEs in primary care, and the second recognizing the overlap between risk factors generated by ACEs exposure and risk factors for wound development. She has given grand rounds at Princeton Hospital and Cooper Health System, has been a speaker at the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, at the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care, and at the Cooper Advanced Practice Provider Symposium. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and New Jersey State Nurses Association. Dr. Bryan is also a founding member of the New Jersey ACEs Task Force.
