The School Nurse Certification Program will be having their next Open House sessions on the following dates: Monday, October 19, 2009 At 4:30pm Monday, November 16, 2009 at 4:30pm Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 4:30pm.
The sessions will take place in Armitage Building Room 406. No reservation required.
The School Nurse Certification Program is dedicated to producing knowledgeable, caring and confident School Nurses who will become leaders in the field. Students will be challenged to participate in intellectually rigorous activities as well as extensive experiential learning.
The School Nurse Certification Program is taught in a cohort group format. The cohort group format facilitates collegiality and fellowship, which promotes intellectual curiosity and exchange of diverse viewpoints. Each applicant must complete all General Education Courses, Foundation Courses and Core Courses before being eligible to receive the School Nurse Certificate.
Program fully approved by New Jersey Board of Education
Applications accepted Dec 1 2009 to May 1 2010 for the cohort class beginning July 2010. Please check back with use During the month of November to application.
Program Requirements
- Current License as a Registered Professional Nurse in New Jersey
- Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited College or University (min. GPA of 2.75)
- Current CPR/ AED Certification
- General Education (45 credits)
Forty-five semester hour credits in general background areas including at least four of the following: Foreign language; fine and practical arts; social studies; mathematics; science; philosophy; psychology; English
- Foundation Courses (19 credits)
Sociology of Childhood & Adolescence [3]
Public Health Nursing (Nursing IV) [6]
Public Health Practicum (Nursing IV) [4]
Introduction to Psychology [3]
Human Relation/Intercultural Elective [3]
Application Process
Application to the Nursing Certification Program:
- Schedule an appointment with Dr. Frame or attend an information session. Please bring unofficial transcripts with you. Information sessions will be held at: 311 N. 5 th Street , Armitage Hall Room 406
Dates for Sessions:
* September 16, 2009 4:30 - 5:30pm
- Submit application to Dr. Kathleen Frame, Director of the School Nurse Certification Program. Include two letters of recommendation: one personal and one work-related. Also submit official copies of transcripts from each College/University you have attended. Check back with use during the month of November 2009 for application.
- Complete a Summer Session Registration Form. The registration form can be found at http://summer.camden.rutgers.edu or contact the Summer Session Office @ 856-225-6098 for a catalog.
- Once accepted, students must have the following:
- Professional Liability Insurance
- Recent TB Mantoux (within 6 months)
- Completion of physical exam
- Membership with The National Association of School Nurses (nasn.org)
