If you will be a freshman for the Fall 2010 semester and are interested in our new 4 year program, please visit us again in a few weeks when new admission criteria will be available. While waiting for the availability of the admission criteria, please apply to the College of Arts and Sciences -Camden Campus at http://admissions.rutgers.edu/Location/Camden.aspx . The priority application due date is December 1st, 2009 for first year students.

Please check back by December 1st, 2009 for application for Fall 2010.

Admission Criteria
Admission to the Nursing program is based on academic achievement (i.e. grade point average). To be considered for admission to the Nursing program, the prospective student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 at the conclusion of the Fall 2009 semester. Up to forty students will be admitted to the junior nursing class, with preference given to native Rutgers Students (i.e. students who have taken all pre-requisite courses at any campus of Rutgers University). Students who have taken all of their courses at Rutgers University (any campus) and have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better at the conclusion of the Fall 2009 semester, without any failing grades (or repeated courses), are eligible for automatic admission to the Nursing program.

Application Process

Application to the Nursing Major at Rutgers-Camden is a two-step process:

  1. Apply to Rutgers-Camden College of Arts & Sciences through Rutgers University Admissions no later than December 1st, 2009. Application to Rutgers Camden College of Arts & Sciences (http://admissions.rutgers.edu/Location/Camden.aspx)
  2. Apply to the Nursing program through the Nursing Department. Please submit your application packet to Mahirym Holguin in the Nursing Department between January 4th-February 26th, 2010 for Fall 2010. The application form can be downloaded from the Nursing Department website as of December 1st, 2009.

A returning Rutgers-Camden student?

If you have graduated from Rutgers-Camden or have had a break in your Rutgers-Camden education, you should complete a "Re-enrollment" form (available from the Registrar, or the Office of Student Life). You do not have to re-apply to the University; however, you will need to complete the Nursing Program application process as outlined in Step 2 below. Submit a copy of your "Re-enrollment" form with your Nursing Department application packet to Mahirym Holguin in the Nursing Department.

Already have a Rutgers University degree (non-Rutgers-Camden) and want the Rutgers-Camden BSN?

If you have graduated from another college within the Rutgers University system, admissions now has a special application for all previously matriculated Rutgers University students that wish to come back. Please click on the link to apply http://admissions.rutgers.edu/0201Readmission.asp. Transfer of credits will be determined by officials in the Camden College of Arts & Sciences Office of Student Life. In addition, you must apply for admission to the Nursing Department – see Step 2 below.

A current Rutgers University (non-Rutgers-Camden) and want the Rutgers-Camden BSN?

If you are a currently enrolled, undergraduate student in any other college in the Rutgers University system and wish to apply for admission to Rutgers-Camden for the BS, you may do so by submitting the online "College to College" transfer application.

The electives are to represent a broad range of subjects in keeping with college requirements and are selected in consultation with the academic advisor. A maximum of six (6) credits from any single discipline are accepted as elective credit. Courses are selected from: anthropology, economics, fine arts, foreign language, history, philosophy, political science, religion, mathematics, and computer science.

NOTE:
- A grade of "C" or better is required in all non-nursing courses.
- Any course completed with less than a grade of "C" may be repeated only once to improve the grade.
- A grade of less than "C" in the repeated course will automatically make the student ineligible for admission into, or continuation in the Nursing program.
- The required course in Nutrition may be taken prior to acceptance into the Nursing program.
